RBIS, BJrPIS Jr. CH ~ Farkas von Salomon Mikeás ~
Mikeás Reserve BIS Winner at 6 months of age...

Mikeás is a Magyar Agár. The Magyar Agár (MA) is a breed from Hungary with an eleven hundred-year history. This large gazehound when compared to the greyhound has a heavier musculature, thicker coat, longer than taller body, longer tail and a larger head with floppy ears. The MA has been used by Hungarians of all different social-economic strata ranging from the nobility to the landed peasant. Its primary role in life until modern times was to dispatch hare and deer for hunters on horseback. Hunts were typically 20 to 30 miles and the MA was expected to keep pace with the horses. These are truly rugged long-distance sighthounds.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to be among the first people in the United States to have the joy of having a MA as part of our family. Currently, there are only (6) confirmed MA's living in the US (5) in CA and (1) in Chicago. Mikeás will be #7, coming to PA all the way from Germany!
 Already chasin'....
 Life is good!

We would like to thank Mikeás' breeder's, Nicole Firneburg & Andreas Winkelmann - Farkas von Salomon (www.magyar-agar.com) for entrusting us with this lovely boy and also the American Magyar Agár Association (MagyarAgar.org) and its members for answering all my questions and directing me to information and breeders overseas.
BigStar looks forward to presenting Mikeás in conformation at Rare Breed Shows all over the Northeast and later we will try some racing and lure coursing with this happy boy!
